Columbus Wireless AA

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I've been reading quite a bit on these forums, and I can't find anyone who shows a MK3.5 2020 Octavia RS 245 with having wireless AA or not..

My local Skoda club says that they do, but I can't find the option on mine anywhere. Is it a possibility my infotainment would need an update? Or would I need to use the wireless AA dongles?

Thanks!

No mk3 or mk3.5 had wireless AA or wireless car play. The radio hardware doesn't support it...

Your only option is an aftermarket dongle 👍

I use this one (new model)

Cheap and works flawlessly.

It keeps the original Bluetooth connection and "replaces" the usb connection by WiFi 5

I used one of the AAWireless boxes (https://www.aawireless.io/) on my 2019 Scout which had a Columbus system in it.  Worked just fine.

Thanks for this!

How did you find the set up? Was there anything required via the Headunit or phone?

Just looking through options before I bite the bullet.

The only requirement is that your head unit and phone manage Android auto (wired). Which I believe do.

So of you can connect wired AA then you are good to go.

When the dongle detects your bt, il will automatically activate your WiFi.

I recommend updating it before first use

I use it on an amundsen mib 2.0 and it is flawless no need to go more expensive unless you want a dongle that also manages car play.

In that case the carlinkit 5.0 would be your choice.

Good thing with this aa dongle is the usb key form factor, it doesn't dangle around and sits in the usb socket

+ phone needs to be WiFi 5
