Octavia 2014 Infortaiment unit upgrade
nickytheshaft replied to octa_user's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
You can update to a newer mib unit. I see you don't have a gps. You can add a module with a fakra plug and be good to go. I don't recommend android units as the call quality is crap. Ask @pab567 to fix you up good, many of us have done it with his cooperation -
Sold my mk3 after almost 11 years
nickytheshaft replied to DJD66's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Way to go. Mine is 10 years, first Octavia, got it new and i don't see what else i would but now -
Believe me you will return it. They mention dab but there is no tuner. You will need a usb tuner and a fakra to dma to connect the car dab antenna to the usb tuner to tje unit. You can also use another fakra to sma to connect the car gps antenna to the unit which is better than the provided GPS antenna.

Stay away from those devices. I have been very active on a thread here on the ebilaen unit. I tried to tame it for almost 6 months. The unit itself runs Very well but : - phone call quality is really bad, people don't hear you when the car is moving. I had to put a noise cancelling mic - android auto is emulated. The apps run good but forget the voice recognition. It doesn't work at all - you will loose almost all the car settings options and all the car error codes -the usb port will not work unless you splice and repin the power wires on the other hand, apps work great, gps, dab.... Better go for a mib 2 it is what I ended doing

The firmware is the "software" that manages the unit. It is hard codded in it and can be upgraded to solve issues -

I would personally try 2 things. Firmware update And maybe erase and redo the map SD card -

Maybe like @PetrolDaveit needs time to settle. Otherwise, contact @pab567 to provide you with the latest firmware. -

Yes it is different, rebooting will just restart it. Factory reset will bring it back to the original state and errase all your settings and the eventual cache files. Go through the menus, you will see the option somewhere. Sorry but I can't check where it is in my car before tomorrow -

Nope, never happened. Have you tried factory resetting it? -
Reverse camera should be connected to the reverse light. Easiest way is get one with an iso harness, it will connect to the infotainment and power out from there. I connected mine to the dashcam hardwire which is on the rear wiper Fuse
