Parking sensors, blind spot detection and Park Pilot stopped working after dealer fitted new sensor mounting clips.

Featured Replies

My parking sensors had been playing up, after one of them on the N/S front got pushed backwards slightly, it would give false warnings. The dealer said the mounting clips were broken and ordered up a complete new set and then fitted them about 3 weeks ago. All was working when I picked the car up, drove home, all of about 2 miles, and parked up.

Later that day I went to pop into the city and error message telling me that park pilot etc was not available, WTF? It was fine when I had parked?

Long story short, the dealer could see my car again until today, and they claim to have fixed the car, claiming that it was a module that was not coded to my car?? I have had this car sine last June, and it was all working OK until they fitted new clips on the front sensors.

They are claiming that after the coded the module to the car, everything worked OK, the module in question is U101300, does anyone know what this module is at all? I did a quick Google search and all I can find is a video claiming that is the ABS module, but that is related to the braking system?? The video was in a foreign language, so I was able to understand what the person was saying.

U101300 is a fault code and isn't specific to a particular module. It typically means whichever module is displaying the code hasn't been coded.

I can't think of any obvious reason for this to occur during a parking sensor bracket replacement.

Park assist does use data from the ABS module to determine direction and other a few other things. Still, that doesn't confirm which module has flagged the code up 🤔

Sounds to me like the place u took it to have no clue of wat they r doing.

Replacing just the PDC holders will have zero effect on the module or coding associated.

I have replaced all 4 PDC holders on my rear bumper, when I changed the rear diffuser, with no issues whatsoever.

BTW, the Parking Assist module (#76) is 5QA919298A.

Did u do a scan to see wat error is being thrown up?

Did the dealer do a scan before and after?

Did they clear the error codes after "fixing" the sensors?

If there is an error with one of the sensors, the scan will tell u exactly what the issue is.

This is an example:- "B107612 - Left rear park assist sensors Short circuit to B+ Intermittent"

On the rear diffuser there r 6x PDC sensors, identified as follows:-

- Left rear parking aid

- Left rear park assist

- Left rear centre park assist

- Right rear centre park assist

- Right rear park assist

- Right rear parking aid

Hmm, well the place I took it to are the official service agents for Škoda in my part of the country and have been looking after my cars for the last 15 years so they should know what they're doing, I hope.

I didn't do a scan myself as TBH I didn't have a clue what I'd be looking for and relied on them to do so. I did however do a scan just after I brought the car, back in June last year, and it did have a few codes, mostly relating to the power seats having lost their basic calibration, this was sorted out with a software update as there was a recall for the car for this problem before I purchased it.

I assume that the previous owner never bothered with the recall, or was not aware of it.

I just trawled my way through that last scan log, and I was able to locate the module using the part number you gave me and I post it here and as you can see it checked out with no codes found.

Here is the job record for today from them, so I can only assume that they must have accidentally done something when they scanned it last time around?

Interesting that ur Park Assist is on a different module Address - Address #10, whereas mine is on #76.

Anyway, wat is even more interesting, as u showed, there were no fault codes before with ur Park Assist, so why did they carry out a "software configuration and coding"?

I wonder if they ended up replacing one of the PDC sensors, hence their need for config & coding, which in turn is causing u the issues now?

Dunno.

if u can, get another scan done so u can see wat the current error is.

I'll try and get one done tomorrow, but I doubt there will be a code as it is again working OK, so any code that was there, would have been deleted today when they did the software configuration and coding.

I wonder if that's an OBDeleven vs VCDS thing?

AFAIK, 76 was for older modules (circa 2009??) and 10 is for more modern ones.

Example VCDS scan with the same module as you have on address 10: https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/16113/#post-144479

ur bang on - it is an OBDEleven vs VCDS thing.

i just had a look at my previous scans, when i used to have VCDS, and it refers to it as #10.
