Can you display time on Radio unit and towbar electric loom Q?

Featured Replies

Hi, couple of questions

There is a clock on the headunit of my late '04 MK1 Octy 130PD hatch but for the life of me I can't fathom out how it can be displayed. It's annoying because when you toggle through the head unit settings for GALA, Phone on, TA Vol etc it is there but then there appears no way of setting the display to show it.

It'd be useful if the radio display showed the time whilst the speedo computer display showed distance to empty for instance.

Am I being dumb or can't it be set to do that?

Manual is no help.

Also after buying a towball mounted bike rack off a friend I've been shocked to learn that my local Skoda dealer wanted

Can you not find someone else other than a main dealer to fit a towbar?

I had a towbar fitted to my MK3 Golf for

Possibly CmCm, but it was a bit of a last minute thing.

Off to Switzerland next week so wanted it all done on saturday and if it's just a plug in loom extension to do it properly then I can't see much point in paying anyone to do it!

Of course I could do the old scotchloc splicing but if ther's a neater way that is less prone to corrosion I'll pay a few pounds more.

Re your towbar question - fitting the towbar is straightforward, did mine in a couple of hours, most of which was splicing in the electrics (soldered not scotchloked).

The Skoda dealer could supply a towbar wiring loom, i think it was

Fitting the tow bar is certainly straight forward, although you really need to make sure you torque all the bolts up properly for safetys sake

I followed this guide for fitting http://www.packetradio.co.uk/Cars/octavia/towbar.htm

I used scotch locks for the electrics as i was fitting a 13pin socket and couldn't find a plug in loom at the right price, at the end of the day don't really see the wiring and as long as you take the time to crimp them properly you get a decent conection.

am still trying to find a way of getting the tell tail light behind the dash working cos the buzzer is bleeding anoying on long runs & i do quite alot of towing.
