2012 Skoda Octavia 2 MY13; CDAA; EA888; 1.8TSI engine weird misfire.

Featured Replies

Car bought at 109k no problems since then. Oil/filter changed every 5km.
At 140k now severe misfire VCDS says cylinder 2.
Spark plug 2 very wet.
Change all plugs, new oil, 5-30, air and oil filter; plugs.
No problem for around 50km then misfire 2 again. Plug cyl 2 very wet again. 'Cook' this plug on gas stove and problem gone for another @ 50km.
Garage says comp & leak-down tests no good it's carbon build-up, want to decoke with walnut abrasion.
Maybe no 2 injector leak ignored by them.
Any suggestions please?

Yes,

you have the issue likely that is pinned at the top of the section. Just an other 1.8 TSI worn out.

Was that oil changes at every 5,000 km?    A bit much.

Thanks for help.

Don't understand 'issue pinned at section top.'

5km - used to change all my cars at 5k miles. Valvoline;Duckhams; mini cooper S tuned half race standards. Even Vincent Comet tuned Grey Flash standards, Castrol R.

^^^^^

Apples and pears though from the 1.8 TSI Euro 5.   Well they should be, but then the 1.8 TSI has fundamental design, manufacturing or material failings.

The pinned thread at the top of the section is about the early demise of some of the 1.8 & 2.0 TSI engines.

Yours has not had an early demise, but are you sure the engine has not had prior issues, or minor or major work done.

You obviously use a Ouija board to obtain answers that don't help.

With no help from this forum but mucho from VW Forum I measured fuel  pressure saying injector problem.

Seems you lot more interested in Trump than helping each other!

Sad!

@anotherdownunder Great stuff.

So are you all good now?

What was the bottom line then on what it cost you to resolve?
