Rear camera problem

Featured Replies

Car is a 2016 combi.

My rear camera appears to be dead. For a few weeks it was working intermittently and I was getting occasional errors about the parking system not being available and suchlike. Eventually, however, it's gotten to the stage where the camera just doesn't come on ever. The errors with the parking assistant have stopped appearing since the camera completely stopped. All the rest of the system appears fine with all sensors apparently working.

I've had a dig about online to try and identify a part number for the camera to replace it but can't find one - most of what I'm finding are retrofit kits and I only want the camera module if possible.

Can this be got? Does anyone know the part number or am I as well to take a trip to a dealer?

Are we talking genuine camera or an aftermarket?

If genuine, it will need coding and calibrating to the vehicle

If you supply the vin I can source you a camera or supply the part numbers

Oh, cheers for the info. I didn't realise the genuine would need coding. I thought I could simply swap old for new and all would work. Are there alternative cameras that can be installed in the same way as the genuine.

Thanks for the offer on supply but I'm in Ireland so likely would cause hassle with customs/shipping.

Sorry no alternative that is plug and play and of that quality.

People fit aftermarket cameras but they are often poor quality and require all new wiring to be ran front to rear.

Hello everyone,

i think i will not create a new topic, but i have also a problem with my rear view camera.

Car - Superb III L&K 2.0tdi 190PS 4x4 wagon 2017 year.

Problem attached. Camera is flickering, sometimes going to black screen, then going back to flicks again. Problem is 50/50, most of the times it is working.

Anyone had same problem?

Looks like a bad connection. I'd imagine the earth side. Factory or after market?

thanks for answering. It is factory mounted.

Check for water ingress at the camera point. After that check the loom at hinge points.

I am sorry, but the last sentence i did not understand. Could you please rephrase it?

The loom goes through the rubbers where the boot hinges are and they can break. Try putting the car in reverse and moving it about on the rubbers to see if it works or gets worse. That will hint to wiring.

Understood, will need to wait for the problem to appear again and will try it. Thank you.
