DSG Gearbox Oil & Filter Change

Featured Replies

Hi, long story short I have recently purchased a 2015 MK lll Superb 1.8 TSI 160 bhp DSG Hatch, which I am very pleased with apart from slight drag on gear change and low fuel consumption @ 25 - 30 mpg driving it with respect. Having read several posts on several forums including here I thought best to have the oil and filter changed so booked it into my main Skoda Retailer having first to go through Skoda UK booking service all good so far, duly dropped the vehicle off and told they would phone in about 2 hours but received a call about 45 minutes later to collect the vehicle, naturally I thought great.

On my return I was informed the gearbox is non serviceable and sealed for life, after a short discussion I asked if they would drop me an email with that information (not yet received) . I have just finished an online chat with Skoda UK  to try and establish what's what  bad start he could not find my vehicle via reg number but after insistence he found it blaming it on their system but he say's it's not in my name on his system and to take my reg book and two means of ID to my main agents so they can update Skoda UK's system? also he could not discuss the vehicle as incorrect details also he had no idea about the gearbox but offered to contact the Skoda agent to get clarification, he came back saying  I have spoken to the Service Team at the Škoda Retailer, and I was advised that your vehicle gearbox does not require oil and filter change as the vehicle gearbox was manufactured that way.     I once again explained I understand  rightly or wrongly that it's although perhaps not a recognised serviceable unit I don't believe it to be a sealed which would imply it's possible to change both oil and filter, he insisted he could only pass on what he was told .

Sorry about the long post but am still not sure if it is or is not possible to service and if so who would carry out the work as obviously Skoda don't seem to want to and I'm now of an age when I've served my time laying in the road under vehicles, many thanks in advance for your patience and  kind help.

Obvious question but do you know which DSG it is that you have?

I would suspect it's a DQ200. AFAIK it's the only one that doesn't have a defined service schedule and is listed as not required.

I also have a DQ200 and can confirm that the oil changes of both the transmission and the Mechatronic are easily done and judging by the colour and condition of the fluids that came out should DEFINITELY be done at intervals similar to those specified for other transmissions.

I would recommend a drain & refill @ 50 - 60k miles, if not more often.

No filters involved with either Trans or Mech as, if present, they are internal.

A half decent mechanic should be able to carry out the service with no problem. There are a good few Youtube videos showing how it can be done, but remember to include "DQ200" in the search text.

Yes that would be most likely.

If the dealer/Skoda UK aren't helping with this then have a word with an independent. I've recently started using Saunders Abbott in Sidcup and very happy with them so far.

DRT Autos in Ashford is who I use. He did mine last December. Picks up from my house & drops back off in the evening, very useful as I've only got one car.

If you're interested Tel. Darren - 07875 371037. Tell him Pat recommended him, I might get some discount on my next service 😄

If you're looking for an independent in your area (I see you are in Maidstone) I would recommend  GMS Kent Ltd 01622 686824 - they are near to the M20 Junction 6. I have used them for my previous 3 Superbs once the warranty has expired and also my wife's Fabia - they know their stuff and are reliable and cost effective.

Could you elaborate on this statement, symptoms etc?
