Minor door mirror prang

Featured Replies

I’ve managed to clip my driver’s side door mirror when backing into the garage.  The back/top piece (the body coloured bit) pinged off but stayed in one piece (ish) which just clipped back into position.  However, it was then that I realised the clear indicator cover had lost the last cm, the bit that can be seen from the driving position.  Also a little bit of blue plastic was found so cover wasn’t quite intact and me putting the cover back on was a bit prem.

Anyone know if the clear indicator cover is available as a separate part?  If so how easy is it to get the coloured top cover off again, this time without driving into the door pillar?

Mirror works fine, glass is fine, indicator and folding all fine.  Wondering if changing the indicator “glass” and gluing the bit of plastic back in place is too tricky then just fill the small hole with silicon sealant to keep water out.

Thoughts oh wise ones out there?

😁😁😁

Plastic trim "pry" tools, it will come off a lot easier now its lost its virginity!

I would go with the silicone, its only a tell tale for the driver to show it is working, I doubt that any of us look at it while indicating when driving.

As its at the bottom I would leave a weep hole and if the missing part is not too big maybe not do anything at all.

Cheers. 👍  Yep, off to B&Q to get some silicon, the drive of shame.  It’s not a massive hole so that should do the job.  As Mrs. DSL said, I was getting cocky re getting car in and out, and now banned from putting Skippy away solo.  Will bung up a pic in a bit.
