Auto dimming mirrors and tinted windows

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have noticed that in certain conditions for example when it is still enough light but the sun is setting behind me that the mirrors are not dimming and the glare in the side mirrors is horrendous. But when it's dark everything works fine. I have aftermarket tinted rear passenger and back glass (I believe around 30%)  and I think there might be some difference in the coding for the mirrors.

Has anyone encountered this issue or is it just my imagination?

It’s down to the daylight sensor not being activated for the given light conditions.

If I remember correctly before tinting this issue was not present. But then again a few years have passed since then and I might be wrong.

After I tinted rear window, the dimming does not work well.  The sensor is in the rear  view mirror - not enough light is getting through tinted windows. If i show flashlight to the sensor, mirrors dim as they should.
