Karoq Boot wont open with key fob

Karoq boot wont open or close using key fob or button on boot can close and open manually but when I try with fob all I get is a kinda clicking sound .. Some one did suggest could be a solenoid ? . Just wondering if any body else has had this problem and what was the solution . My friend the mechanic is on holiday at the moment and he has a  plug in computer    which might tell me what's wrong fingers crossed .. Thank you Gary
