How to remove A-pillar trim?

Featured Replies

I'm trying to route a cable from the dashcam under the A-pillar trim. However, I'm having trouble with the first clip on the upper side of the trim. The clip (3B0880385B) holds an orange strap. The strap is attached to the trim on one side, while the other side is secured between the chassis and the clip. To proceed, I need to remove the entire clip from the chassis.

I've tried prying the clip off with a plastic trim removal tool, but it won't budge. How can I safely remove this trim clip from the chassis?

I too could do with finding this out as I have a rattle behind my passenger side a pillar, possibly speaker harness rattling on trim.

Funny thing is I work in squeaks and rattles for a motor manufacturer 🫣

Well I eventually removed my passenger "a" post today, the top clip is a right bugger to get out. I had to get a metal trim fork behind it and pry it out. The problem is that there is a chance of bending the metal clip or snapping it. I got it out first time just a little bent, easily straightened with pliers, but the second time I removed it the clip snapped. I'll just replace with a plastic clip that I'll "borrow" from work. The other 2 clips further down the a post are not so hard and once the top clip is out you can move it away from the pillar and see behind the post. Beware of the airbag that runs up the post.

The source of my rattle was the airbag clip in the body in white was loose.
