Dpf fault code

Featured Replies

Hi all. Had dpf code come on after dpf light came on then coil light. Had new egr 18months ago. The garage have regenerated dpf. Came home and then next day when into limp mode. I've been smelling fumes through the heater vent when stationary. Back to the garage he's tested all the sensors and regenerated again. He said the soot levels are creaping up when stationary. Any ideas? We are thinking it might be turbo related but a pig to get off and check. Any ideas welcome.

Hello bazza1827,

I have posted a separate "essay" about my DPF problem ( strange DPF problem).

I spent weeks scanning, removing and flushing DPF, and changing egr valve (twice). DPF light would just not turn off despite having done all the correct things.

Out of curiosity have you ever had any injectors changed because a injector failures?

I had previously changed a couple of injectors then very recently replaed the whole set.  The effect of this impacted the dpf regen function or rather didn't.

A workshop with dealer level diagnostics found my car to SIX ECU software updates out of date.

Skoda having had multiple issues with the Siemens injectors have been putting in software updates to change the injector fuel delivery map. My Injectors had

triggered the DPF regen program to cancel because despite putting in the correct adaptation codes the old injector map remained in the ECU stopping the regen

from commencing.  These engines rely on extra fuel being delivered into the cycle to help burn off the deposits and regen the dpf. Kudos to the workshop that

reprogrammed my ECU and got the dpf to regen and extinguish the light. The dpf after I'd flushed it out was in fact almost zero soot but the ECU wouldnt have it

because of the new injectors not matching old ECU programme and cancelling the regen.  For less than £200 I've avoided a bank raid to afford a new dpf.

Hi thanks for replying. I bought a code reader thinking it would help me out but obviously hasn't. I've spent the last 4 wks trying everything possible. I'm thinking of booking it in with skoda just to see if the ecu is out of date. But this scanner as the latest software on. But may not be the correct. I recoded the injectors that were on the injectors to think that would help but it sent it missing all over the place. I disconnected the battery and left it and then reconnected it and it seemed to have cured most of it. I bought a new exhaust temp sensor to see if that wasn't working but the soot levels still carry on building back up. I've put stuff down the sensor pipe to halp flush it out and it did get quite a bit out.  Its like a guessing game.  I tell the ecu its had a new dpf  to cleare the glowplug light but leaves the dpf light on. I've been told to have the dpf smashed out and egr deleted. So god knows  i'm thinking of buying a obdeleven or carista to actually see whats going on. I haven't had the injectors changed but when it went into the garage he said it might have 1 leaking as the soot level is building up when idling.

Thats interesting to see the calculated soot content is almost the same that mine was at. My system was ignoring the actual soot content (zero) and still showing the pre flushed content of 35g until the ECU got reprogrammed. I hope you can find a good independent VW group specialist or workshop with dealer level diagnostics I

have no faith in my franchised dealerships locally. Don't bankrupt your self on replacing anything until the ECU is interogated.

Yeh i had all this with my transit van b4 I had to buy this 2 years ago. It had egr replacement 3 wks after I bought it. I've just been out again and the soot level is creaping back up again so like you say it maybe software or injector fault. Thanks anyway i'll see how i get on. Bloody cars. Vans. Houses. Women. Kids. Dogs 🤣
