BXE Remap - Bad idea?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Got a 2010 Octavia estate with the 105bhp BXE engine.

It's just a bit gutless, so am considering one of those stage 1 remaps for a few extra horses and some more torque.

Given the controversial nature of the BXE engine, is this a terrible idea? For context, it's done 115k and is regularly serviced.

Cheers for the opinions!

BXE, Big Xploding Engine, no, don't, likely drop a rod through the block!

I've just recently bought a pd105 4wd which the previous owner mapped to around 150hp about 10k miles ago. Current mileage is on 130k now original engine as far as I can tell. Been ok so far.... Now I've said that it'll blow up tomorrow lol. Turbo sounds a bit noisy I think that'll be first to give up.

My old pd105 Leon was running around 240hp for 20k miles. Sold it on 160k miles and it is still going strong as far as I know.... Yet I've seen 60k examples which have been serviced on the dot just randomly let go

It's a lottery just get the map done and drive it. Deal with the worst if it happens!
