Kessy boot/tailgate

Featured Replies

I wonder if some of you could help tell me if I have a fault or what I’m experiencing is normal as never had a keyless entry car before. My 2020 Karoq Edition has the keyless entry and for the most part this works fine. I put my hand in the drivers door handle once to unlock the drivers door and again to open the other doors (although sometimes it doesn’t seem to recognise the second time I put my hand on the door handle to unlock the other doors and sometimes it works fine) but my question is when I drive somewhere, get out of the car, shut the drivers door and goto open my boot (tailgate) manually from the handle by the rear view camera with the key in my pocket it sometimes just won’t unlock. I then have to get the key out of my pocket and unlock it using the remote. Is this normal (maybe a safety feature) or am I doing something wrong? If all doors are locked first thing in the morning and I go to put something in my boot and it always unlocks/opens fine first time when the key is in my pocket.

In Settings, you can configure the way KESSY works

Thanks. In the end I turned off the second time door handle unlock and just use the first handle unlock and all works fine now.

Apparently, I was informed by another forum member when I posted the video in a thread on its own, all this is in the manual!
There are some limited settings on what unlocks what, but I didn't find the above in my printed manual, I shall have to re-read it.

This reminds me of a forum for some video edit SW I use.  I asked for a feature to be added, and a dozen people immediately said that would be the worst feature in the world (ever)  We were all surprised when someone else posted to say that feature had been added 5 years ago and explained how to find it!  To be fair the manual is over 4,000 pages (yes 4 thousand)

Yep I read through my manual and couldn’t find the exact thing I was experiencing so wasn’t sure if I was doing something wrong or if there was a fault with the car (I’m new to Skoda and my previous car was 2006 so the technology was a lot older). I made some tests myself and sometimes the boot worked and sometimes not (after driving somewhere) so I decided to try with the settings and when turning off the dual unlock and just using the single door handle unlocks everything it now works fine (mine was never great at noticing my hand on the second wave of the dual unlock thing).

Likewise, I have had Nissan's for the last 20 years. My Karoq is a generation (or two?) on from my last new car and has a different "logic" in the manual.

I can't find an option to only unlock the two front doors and nothing else which would be useful as it is usually just me and the wife in the car.

I found unlock just drivers door, driver and rear door on drivers side or all doors so in the end I just went for unlock all doors as seemed to work every time.
