Skoda Felicia custom floor mats.

Featured Replies

For all these years i had rubber floor mats, here in GR we call them ''caoutchouc''.

Heavy, bad smell in the first days and slippery, i never like them especially because they were ''Universal" and never fit as they should be.

I searched in the internet for Custom ones for Felicia but from what i saw i wasn't convinced that they would be OK.

Other company had this pattern but neither this was for my test because i have installed a 4th pedal and there would be a gap on the right side.

So i decide to make an order in a local company but: I made a pattern with a cardboard exactly as i wanted and make them fit properly, i send the samples with courier after few days they arrived.

I ordered them in Black colour with Blue edging trims with a ''tailored'' shape in the left side so the floor mat could fir behind the 4th pedal.

No rubber at all and the carpet was the ''reinforced'' edition.

I asked for Skoda logo but unfortunately they had it in the 2 front only and the most serious was that they didn't had Retaining Clip holes !

As you can see the 2 front have not the same dimensions, my car has floor insulation with Carpenter Underlay DB Rating: 43DB bought from England so only Custom mats would fit properly.

So it's time to open the holes on them and later in the car's floor carpet.

As i have said before:

So your pattern won't fit i my car, would look ugly and will be not functional.

I don't know what the "handsome" said but i trusted my measurements and what the cardboard shown.

My floor mats are tailored and in purpose wider than stock.

By the way, their MATERIAL is reinforced carpet better than common.

Let's talk about clips-buttons and relative matters.

I saw it too late, i already have opened the holes to my mats, i wish i could search more the internet about this.

Eagle Klaw Floor Mat Clips

The package has inside even the tube to cut the carpet in the proper dimensions.

The problem is if you wash your car in Car washing stores here in Greece every time you have to do the procedure (screw out-screw in) exclusively by yourself otherwise don't expect from the employee to do it.

In theory is good but in real life the things here in GR are different and i will explain the ''Why".

Since there was no factory carpet floor mats for Felicia there was only one solution, to buy Universal style.

There were some carpet ones but low quality material, didn't fir properly, very easy to move in any direction and after a while start warping so the majority of people turn to rubber ones.

Heavier, ugly, awful odour the first weeks, slippery, even if they had pre-cut grooves to make them fit better it was a matter of time to start cracking.

Here is mine:

The major problem was to keep them in place, when they moved left-right was a nightmare to make corrections while driving plus some of them caused problem in the clutch pedal.

Since there were no floor mats clips in the market at that time the driver had two options: to let them as they were and every time slander or try to use Universal clips to keep them in place.

One type was this:

MK-.jpg.551f13d16fad0448f8bef76f52114a29.jpg

Unreliable, clumsy, couldn't stand the weight of the rubber mats, very easy to detached from their position.

After few days that i have installed these i went to a car washing shop, the owner and the employees were from [name of A country]

and although i explain to him to pay attention to the floor mats clips he didn't care, he just pull them with force and detached them from their base.

I decide to find another way for my rubber floor mats to stay in place and i have found these Universal clips.

Install them although the idea that just a pin is holding their weight wasn't look good to me after a while a visited a car washing store.

I abandon the previous due to sloppy work and went to another where the owners and the employees were from [name of B country], i explain to the employee to be gently with the floor mats clips but in saw him just to grab and pull them with force, a ''craaack" was heard and the clips totally removed.

I made a immediately complain but the answer was just a ''What?'' so that day i decide that ''No more clips'' because i was losing time and money and no car washing shop will pay attention to these.

I temporary tried some other solutions as Velcro or Anti-slip tape beneath till the time to come to find another Material than rubber.

PS: I didn't mention the name of those 2 countries because maybe someone will be...''offended" although it's not from there and has many thousand of Km distance from them. 😎

So after the decision to have floor mats with another better quality Material (that the cheap carpet and the rubber) i start looking for a brand to make my Custom ones.

I saw some advertisements but i wasn't convinced that the carpet will be good quality plus i was worried that won't fit in my car due to the modifications that i have made.

After searching i have found a maker which made for me floor mats having as guide a patron that i gave him plus i saw that he uses ''Premium'' quality carpet which looks better than the ''competition"  of @Thefeliciahacker (and the cut for my 4th pedal that his don't have so i had to cut the carpet by myself ruining the edging trims) plus have more straight lines, more coverage and of course an extra layer for the heels of the shoes that his don't have also.

Here it is ready to take the proper position.

You can see the U shape which it will go behind the 4th pedal and make it more immovable.

I don't like the logo.

In the future i will cover them with another patch from metal or cloth, something like this:

I like more this Logo but depends from the store if can ''print'' it in cloth.
