Error: electronic parking brake

Featured Replies

Our 2021 iV had its first MOT yesterday. When unlocked it, I got a long beep and a message saying "Error: electronic parking brake. Stop vehicle safely! Workshop". This clears after a second or two and does not come back whilst driving, but it happens every time the car is unlocked.

I have not seen this message before, so what would have caused this in the MOT and it something the MOT centre can sort out or does it need to go back to the dealer?

Exactly the same thing happened to me!

Last week I also had my first MOT on my Octavia vRS 2020 and since then I get this exactly same error every time I unlock the car...?

I had a first MOT at the main dealer last week. This week I am getting the same message when I open the door to get out after parking. It only displays for about 10 seconds.

This message is still appearing whenever the car is unlocked or when the driver's door is opened. I have done a code scan (using Torque) and there are no stored errors. I will contact the garage that did the MOT and see what they have to say.

I was checking to see if there are any messages in the My Skoda app and found, amusingly, that the car had already booked itself into the dealer next month for "Error: Hill Start Assist". I assume it is going to want me to drive it there!

I wonder whether the error was caused by attempting some of the MOT brake tests whilst the car has Auto Hold enabled?

Two days ago I had my regular (yearly) service for my Octavia and they erased the error in the board computer.

No error/warning since then...🙃

Mine is back from the garage where the MOT was done and the message is gone. It took a VAG specialist to clear the codes, but that is all it took. No cost to me either, which was particularly good, since Skoda wanted £175 to look at it.

My car has just been serviced by the dealer.  They agree that the message appears on opening the door for a few seconds but diagnostics shows no fault so I have been told to bring it back if it comes on while driving.
