DEPRESS CLUTCH START UP PROBLEM

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, can anyone point me in the right direction. My Skoda Yeti 1.6Tdi 2011 some mornings refuses to start immediatly even though I'm holding down the clutch as instructed by the nagging instrument cluster message. I've tried taking the key out , putting my foot on the clutch before inserting the key and after pumping the clutch it decides to start. Once I've been driving and stopped for a while it restarts absolutely fine. It's a mystery for sure! Could it be a sensor for the clutch? Any help would be appreciated.

Could it be the glow plug heating is taking longer, hence the delay and why it starts fine when warm.

Yes possibly, maybe even probably.

Does the gear indicator on the dashboard work at all times when the clutch is released and the vehicle in motion?

Edit, having read your posting again I get the impression that the engine cranks but refuses to start, can you please confirm?

If that is the case then ignore the above and take notice of the preceeding post by Kenny R.

Hi Kenny R, I always wait for the glow plug light to go out before trying to crank the engine, thanks for the thought!

Hi J.R., The gear indicator seems to operate fine  (will keep a sharp eye on it though). The engine refuses to crank initially ,thanks for your comments.

If it refuses to crank and can be persuaded to by pumping the clutch pedal it points to the pedal position sensor, start with checking the connector.
