DPF Regen & Oil Temperature

Featured Replies

Random Q,

Would you expect the engine oil temperature to rise when the engine is carrying out a regen whilst driving? Just wondering as it could be a good indicator as to when a regen is being carried out.

It probably does to a small extent but with all the other variables like ambient temperature and engine load having an effect it is not an effective 'tell tale' for a regen from what I have seen,

I wish there was some indication because then I’d drive a little further.

Only way I can tell is auto gears hold longer and revs higher than normal, time I’ve noticed I’m usually just about to get on my drive 🤦

It doesn't matter, don't obsess over it, it is not worth burning extra fuel driving around for no reason when it will look after itself next time you drive the car.

Happens to me sometimes, drive on the motorway all week and then I get home and its doing a regen 🤣
