Does raised boot floor in Octavia Combi Mk4 interfere with retractable boot cover?

Featured Replies

I experimented with the configurator of MY2025 Octavia Combi. Automatically retractable boot cover is standard for the trim level I selected. I was explained that this feature allows the boot cover to slide halfway by itself when the boot is opened.

However, as soon as I add the raised boot floor, which is offered as an option, the summary page shows the retractable boot cover in grey with a star next to it. This means that the cover is somehow affected by the raised floor. For other options I can properly reason about mutual influence, but it's not obvious for the combination I described.

Could someone having these 2 features explain what this is all about? I would like to understand how the boot cover functionality is affected and why it is this way. I contacted my local dealer, but they were not able to figure it out.

I have a 3 week old UK spec estate (combi), and UK shipped cars no longer have the halfway auto-retracteble boot cover. Previous cars did however. Not sure how a raised boot floor (a minor physical thing) can alter or affect the electrics involved 🤷‍♂️

The boot cover retracts by virtue of a coiled spring in the sheath.  It has a holding hook at both the fully deployed and half way deployed positions. To open it, it needs to be triggered twice, to release it from each of the two holding positions in succession.  I'm guessing that the 'automatic' feature involves a pair of solenoids in the D posts to release it from the first holding point.

If it's a discontinued feature, I'm guessing what you are seeing is a fault in the configurator software and it should be showing the option greyed out in all instances.

I wouldn't be too worried about not having the facility. Mine works the first two times I open the boot, then doesn't until I reset it in the infotainment screen. Two opens later, it's reset itself. I've given up on it.
