Smartlink update

Featured Replies

Hi I've recently bought a skoda Octavia 2016. But smartlink won't connect as I have a Google pixel 9 and its not compatible.

I'm wondering if there's an update I can do to make it compatible with my phone as I don't have nav something like a SD card? Or will I have to take it to a main dealer?

What model year is your Octavia?

SmartLink requires a MIB2 or later infotainment system which was fitted from May 2015 production onwards, and then requires a SwP code to enable it.

It's a 2016 model, this is the screen I'm getting. My phone connects to Bluetooth and the USB charges my phone also. But I can't seem to get android auto when I connect it.

On the Octavia 3 SmartLink is wired only, have you tried connecting your phone to the USB socket under the heater controls?

Are you using a full USB cable with data connections as well as power connections? Many cheaper USB cables are power only which won't work.

I don't use Android but I understand that you have to enable it on the phone, have you done this?

Yeah it might be the USB I'll try this before taking it to the dealers. Yeah android auto is enabled

Any further new on this, just bought a 2017 vrs. The previous owner connected their Android phone to it and it worked. My daughter's iPhone connects straight away to the screen. But I cannot get my pixel 6A to connect do i need to do anything on the phone? I have android auto installed.

Also tried different cables plugged in the usb under the heater controls inc a new cable stated as a data cable.

Any advice

Hi yeah, I bought a data cable off amazon and it worked just fine. Seems strange that the iPhone connects and not the Google pixel. I use a USB off Amazon and it automatically connects when I turn on the car. Maybe try a different cable as that one might be faulty.

Do both use the same cable? Unless you have an iPhone 15/16 they have a Lightning connector not a USB-C connector.

No i phone was a lightening connector cable. I have used different USB C cables, the previous owner successfully connected their Android phone and cable.

Different cables -so not strange IMHO.

UPDATE

Found the issue, my phones usb connector was full of fluff so the cable if it would stay in, charged but not connected for data. So cleaned it out with a tooth pick and now connects to car.
