Retrofit new instrument cluster

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have a 2008 fabia estate 1.4 16v, I was wondering if I can retrofit the instrument cluster from sayna vRS or similar to it as it has the additional temperature gauge and an analog fuel gauge which I much prefer. If this is possible what is involved and I assume VCDS would be needed to code the new gauges?

Thanks!

Not an expert but the clusters are coded and I think you need to retrieve old cluster code first. Then use VCDS to delete and recode to new cluster. Someone on here will be more experienced. Might be worth checking that the connections are compatible and there are actual wire connections for wiring to the new guages.

I'll definetely do some research, I have a copy or VCDS luckily so coding should be doable if I can work out how

As far as I am aware, and having replaced a cluster in a mk2 on a like for like replacement - not an upgrade - VCDS will not retrieve the SKC? 4 digit code from both the cluster which you need to swap a cluster for which I used VAG KEY. I then used VCDS for the swap itself. Also, unsure of compatibility as yours is a Mk2 where I think the VRS was classed as a Mk2 facelift.

Understood. It's worth doing some research i think. I'm just hoping to fit something with an analog fuel gauge and a temperature gauge as I don't much like LCD screens given their tendency in my experience to just stop working. Is there a cluster from my generation that has that?
