A few questions...

Hi All,

So - I have a Superb Mk2 Combi 1.8 TSI SE PLUS. It's a great car and I love it - however, someone drove into it a year ago and wrote it off (CAT S). It's still on the road, I bought it back off the insurers. The engine also eats oil... which I know is a known fault with that engine... So I am considering an upgrade to a MK3 (2021 ish)... however I am after a few opinions:

  • I'm looking to go to a hybrid, I can charge at home and even though I can probably only get 20/30 miles of range, that would be good enough for my commute

  • Currently I have a manual, I have always driven manuals, but obviously a hybrid has to be an auto - I have had issues in the past with experiencing car sickness with autos - I haven't really been in an auto at all in recent memory... I'm assuming they are all as smooth as butter nowadays!

  • I found out about the oil eating of the 1.8 TSI after I bought it from my local dealer (they failed to mention it... 🙄) Are there any things I should be looking out for on the 1.4 TSI PHEV?

  • I don't buy cars often, and I will probably look to own this new car for 10+ years, so I want to get the right spec... L&K seems like it ticks most of of the options as standard, but I really dislike the L&K branding... I guess I might just have to swallow my pride on that one... I have been somewhat spoiled by the SE PLUS on my current car...

  • Did they get rid of the rails in the boot floor from the MKII, I use them all the time in my current car for lashing down etc... seems an odd backwards step.

  • I am looking at the digi dash as a millennial who grew up thinking more screens more better, but is it any good?

  • I'd really love a sunroof, but they seem to be as rare as hens teeth... am I looking in the wrong place?

I am sure I will think of more Q's, but that'll do for now.

Mods, feel free to repost this elsewhere if I have put it in the wrong place!

Thanks all,

G.
