Hi all, I've a problem with the drivers side "offside " headlight on my 2015 superb mk2 facelift L&K. When I hot her 4 years ago the bulb was dim but as she passed her NCT "mot" I'd didn't do anything about it at the time. The bulb blew and after changing the bulb "twice" it will not project a clear pattern.

It's very diffuse and almost seems like a lefthand drive lamp. Travel mode just locks the lights in a center position and it seems that I may have to buy a new lamp.

All the lamps for sale state for right hand driving/lefthand drive vehicles.

Do I need to find one specifically for UK modles and where would I find same, or does anyone know of a fix?

Please take this the right way if you fitted the replacement bulbs yourself, but are you sure they were fitted correctly?

It just seems odd that the headlight was operating OK with the dim bulb (which is to be expected if it was original) and the issue has arisen since the first replacement. If you do need a headlight it needs to be for a R/H drive vehicle, doesn't matter whether it's UK or Ireland and first place I'd be looking is a car breakers.

The point I did pick up from your post is the bulb type, I'm assuming there is a difference with the facelift model. Mine is a 2012 Elegance and I changed both bulbs last year due to loss of brightness, they are D1S.

Yeah, the bulbs are correctly fitted, luckily for me I'm good friends with a mechanic.

This headlight unit seems only to be fitted to 2013/14/15 models.

The bulb blew itself to bits also it seems to have not been clipped in correctly as there is heat damage around the bulb seat.

I know the car spent at least 3 years in France so it's possible it had a European type headlight fitted for some reason.

Thanks for the advise but these headlights seem to be rare as hens teeth here in Ireland, I'll have to start looking in the UK.

The xenon bulbs are different for facelift versus pre-facelift.

Pre-facelift (around 2012-ish) they’re D1S. Post-facelift they’re D3S I believe.
