I posted a problem about having to open the boot by having one person lifting the boot , whilst another is pulling the lever. I compared lifting my boot lid with an identical year Fabia, and mine appeared a lot heavier ,as if lead blocks had been fitted inside!! (they were not!!). The problems were caused by me. I had removed the gas struts to clean them ,and fitted the 2 bolt fixing brackets upside down!!!. The straight edge is mounted upwards. The apparent weight of the lid was caused because the gas strut geometry was wrong !!. That was why the boot opened correctly when I first got the car. I have learnt the hard way ,-take pictures -get my memory retention looked at- or, don't take anything off the car!!!

Yeah I now take step by step pics of anything I do on the car so I know what I finish with vaguely resembles what I started with!

i never usually have a problem remembering where everything goes ,last year i had a Mazda 6 diesel engine totally stripped for 7weeks iirc , and put it back together with out a problem and it ran first time after new short motor and oil pump fitted , but i understand what you mean , i'm dreading the day when i start to struggle remembering where stuff goes
