starting problems

Featured Replies

Twice in the last month my 1.4 16v has had trouble starting. When you turn the key the car vibrates and doesn`t seem to catch into life, then i tried to start it again the vibrations stop and then after a while catches into life.

I then turn the car off and then restart and it`s fine.

I was wondering if it due to the weather as it`s hot and if the petrol evaporates so it takes longer for the fuel to get to the jets.

If tried to figure this out but can`t seem to work it out, has anyone had this problem and if so what was it.

Need to check it with VAG COM etc, but id be tempted to have a look at the coolant temp sensor, see if its a green one. It sits down the right hand side of the cylinder head at the front. Just by the EGR pipes.

I just went to have a look, but can`t see anything green. I wish there was a Haynes manual for the Fabia.

I might ring Skoda tomorrow and see what they suggest.

I would put money on a coolant sensor myself ;)

Ross has it, my brothers ibiza 1.4 8v had the same prob.

If it is the sesor, is it easy to fix, or is it best to take it to a garage.

Its a little bit fiddly on the 16v.

Cheers i`ll ring the garage tomorrow.

I just had a look on the Haynes website and there`s a manual coming out in December this year.

I rang the Skoda garage up today and he instantly said "It`s the temperature sensor", exactly what you guy`s said. So i`ve booked it in for next week to be sorted.

Cheers guy`s once again you`ve come to the rescue.
