Re-programming Keys? Superb Mk3 2017

Featured Replies

We lost a pair of keys and had to resort to using the 'third key' provided in the handbook pack.

We bought a replacement key from an online vendor who came out, cut the key and programmed it for us and both keys work fine.

We since found the missing keys which do now not work, despite having new batteries which I suspect is down to a coding change perhaps?

I;ve tried to follow a couple of online youtube tutorials about how to re-code a key with lots of people saying thanks and that it worked, but either I'm doing something wrong or this doesn't apply to UK models?

Please could someone provide a definitive guide on how to recover the coding in the two original keys we have now found?

Thanks in advance.

Those keys need to be programmed to work, there are no other way to get them to work.

Thanks.

Is this a dealer only process, or is it DIY with the right kit?

If so, what would I need?

I found this in the handbook, but didn't work.

(Red light on key is flashing confirming new battery working).

This only works if the key is registered in the vehicle's immobilizer but has lost its synchronization.

I think its a dealer only (or someone with valid geko access for odis) job. When your new keys were created the old ones has been programmed off from the immobilizer system. The computer asks how many keys you want to program to the car and it will register those keys that you program on that time and every other key is removed from the system.

I dont think its going to be very expensive job to do in dealer. I estimate its about 30min to 1 hour job. There is also a maximum amount of keys that can be programmed to a car, but i think 4 is not a problem.

ODIS is not necessarily necessary. With an Autel IM508S, for example, it also works

One of the keys brings up the immobiliser warning on the dash and wont start the car, which sounds like the condition mentioned.

The other key will start the car without issue, it's just the remote won't operate the central locking.

I tired the method in the hand book and another one on the net where they state to put the kiy in the ignition after opening the locks, but no joy on either.

It feels to me like the second one that does start the car, should be able to be made to work based on the handbook and YT tutorials, but not getting anywhere. Tried original battery and two different new batteries, red light flashes on the them all so as content as I can be that the battery is not the issue.

This one is puzzling.

why don't you complain?

<edit> P.S. I hate to do it, but I have to: It's "To whom?".
