Octavia 1.6TDI just failed a fuel injector

Featured Replies

On a recent long drive the engine started to run rough. Engine light came on. Breakdown service said ok to drive home 200 miles. Got near to home, engine cut out. Breakdown service attended and said it was injector 4. Garage replaced all injectors, then engine died again. Injectors were tested at a specialist. Metal contamination. Believed to be the HP pump failure. Now I am told the car is scrap and uneconomic to repair due to the labour and parts. Car value £4000 circa 2017 150,000 miles. Any advice please?

Hi, welcome.

Sorry, bad luck.

Which part or parts of your post do you want advice on?

If the fuel system has been contaminated then AFAIK (which ain't far) parts and labour will be expensive, I'm not sure taking a gamble and/or cutting corners now would save costs in the end.

You might be better asking in the Skoda Octavia Mk3 forum as the owners and others there will have more knowledge and experience about or of this. Give details of engine code and size and put it's a 2017 car (with 150,000 miles) - Skoda Octavia Mk3 forum - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/235-skoda-octavia-mk3-2013-2020/

HTH.

Thanks for the comment, looks like it’s beyond economic repair. Sad end to a great car.
