2007 scout .as the title says have checked fuse ok HRW relay i can hear clicking when i activate the HRW switch ... HRW switch illuminates ... are these car prone to having broken wires in the tailgate to body rubber grommet ?. Everything else on the tail gate is working lights wiper washers etc ....

It could be a break in the element on window or broken wire . Check your getting power to it and inspect with a magnifying glass to see if theres any breaks. Mine got damaged by my dog scraping the rear window.

got the old volt meter out checked voltage at fuse all good pulled the trim from around the window to check voltage at rear window .... nothing jumped straight into the loom and found a broken wire in the loom from the body to the rear hatch mate ... nice easy and cheap fix ... i was starting to panic thinking it was the actual screen

Glad you found it. I personally cut out the bad section of wire and solder in a new section with heat shrink plus tape. I don't tend to join at the break point as it tends to break again as the repair isnt as flexible as the wire.

the bad section was pretty close to the body maybe only an inch left of it before it disappeared inside the hatch and was running out of time so was literally a quick fix to get it working again . plus it was bloody cold and i dont think the soldering iron wouldve held up and done a decent job but hey at least its working for winter
