radio reception quite poor ..

Featured Replies

got the factory head unit but radio reception is a bit hit and miss. even on all major stations is there any sort of factory reset or is there another problem im not seeing here ?

Chances are the amplifier built into the bottom of the aerial base is dead.

What radio unit do you have?

On some models you can bring up a hidden menu to show the signal strength and amplifier status

just the standard head unit that came with the scout mate .... i can still get some channels but its not the best .... would i have to drop the head lining to get to the aerial base or can it be done without the head ache ?

thinking of upgrading the headunit to a dab one but not sure which way i want to go as my classic car project saps my money

Sounds like you have the Stream radio then.

If you hold down the Menu button like in this video it will bring up the service menu.

From there you can see whether ANT says on or off

You don't need to drop the whole headlining to change an aerial, you can just pull it down a bit at the rear to get access. It's a pretty easy job

GENUINE REPLACEMENT ROOF AERIAL ANTENNA MAST BASE FOR SKO...

It has a single coax connection with a RAKU 2 type connector. This aerial is ideal for cars that have had aerials snapped off or stolen. You might also need this aerial as your current aerial is no...

Yes I think that's the correct one, but it's worth pulling your headlining down to double check the connection before you order it

There were 2 types of connection, the RAKU as that link or FAKRA. I think they changed over to FAKRA connections with the facelift in 2008 but it's worth just double checking yours first

thank you sir

Easy to do but the headlining is quite stiff. Easier if you remove the plastic C Pillar trims either side. Also a 22mm open end spanner is really useful to loosen and tighten the nut.

Yeah! Tried one on wife's car with adjustable grips. It was a PITA. Did mine a few weeks later and bought a cheap 22mm and made life a lot easier.

and did it cure the problem of bad reception ?

Did you get to the extra menu to show the antenna status?

I had the same on my old Octavia and the new base sorted it.

Yes and No. On the wife's Polo it was transformational. Reception was crystal clear. On mine it seems the reverse! It is worse and the secret menu shows ANT OFF.

Maybe it was a duff base. I had bought one that suited the Octavia from the 'bay. Now bought the same one I used in the Polo so when I get a chance and the weather permits I'll swap it over and let you know.
