Replaced MIB2 head unit, no sound (Canton)

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

My first post so please be gentle.

I have a 2016 Superb L&K, I have recently had to replace the head unit owing to the old one failing (3V0 035 020B) - I bought a replacement unit taken from a 2017 car (3V0 035 020D) as I was assured all would be fine.

I have installed the unit and had component protection removed, however whilst everything works ok, I have no sound - the donor unit came from a non Canton car as it had a yellow cover over the MOST socket.

The new unit's sound menu has no Canton options as the previous unit did - I also have no TV tuner option but I gather that this was discontinued on 2017 cars.

Could anyone PLEASE help me; I am hoping it's just a case of the unit being told it's now in a car with Canton in order for it to work?

Powering up the old unit isn't an option as it went pop.

Any help is hugely received.

I have ordered OBDEleven if I need it...

Many thanks

Max

Sorry, I don't understand what you're saying.

Google Gemini:

An SVM check at Skoda refers to the Software Version Management (SVM) coding, which is necessary to integrate new control units into a vehicle or to make changes to the software, often in connection with recalls or retrofits. The process requires access to the official manufacturer's diagnostic tool (ODIS), the matching of activation codes (SVM codes), and the execution of automatic adaptations to the control units to ensure the software functions correctly.

How the SVM check works:

Preparation: First, the retrofit kit or the new control unit is installed in the vehicle.

Connection to the diagnostic tool: The manufacturer's diagnostic tool (ODIS) is connected to the vehicle.

Starting the software adaptation: The "Perform retrofit/upgrade with license protection" function or a similar option is started via the "Special functions" menu.

Entering the activation codes: The check prompts for the necessary activation codes (e.g., code 1, code 2, code 3), which are often supplied with the new control unit.

Automatic Execution: After entering the codes, the activation is performed automatically and all necessary control units are adapted.

Completion and Verification: Finally, the fault memory is cleared and the correct function of the retrofit is verified.

SVM Code

The SVM code (also called license coding) is a unique code that ensures only authentic and new control units are used.

It is usually found in the packaging of the new control unit.

Without this code, the software adaptation cannot be performed.

Update -

Bought OBDEleven, tinkered with coding and all is well again. Even have my TV tuner back.

Thanks
