Sat Nav question

Featured Replies

Is the sat nav clever enough to be able to route me round traffic jams etc? Going to be doing a lot of miles this weekend and next week, so don't want to be stuck in the holiday traffic if possible.

I saw a 53 reg Superb Elegance on Ebay, and he reckoned it could do that. Just want to check it is possible before wading through the manual!

Must admit I'd be well vexed if I'd paid

The Sat Nav does re-route if you know how long the jam is up ahead and you can activate this feature by pressing the bottom right button on the display, the one with an arrow going arounf what looks like a no entry sign.

If you are having trouble with it updating slowly then I would check the amount of Satellites you can see? Or you may need to change the Gala settings?

Cheers for that - I'll give that a try at the weekend and see how I get on. :)

I agree' date=' who would pay for this by choice, Tom Tom is so much cheaper & more user friendly - but, hey it was fitted in the car so I'll have to struggle to learn how to use it (and it is a struggle:( ). Still, only had the car a month:)

IMO the OEM Sat Nav is very old in comparison to the latest TOM TOM etc but the biggest problem with the TOM TOM's is that you end up advertising your product to every man and his dog in the window of your car and IMO it looks like a bit of a child's toy stick on the window.

Nothing better than having a nice 'in dash' unit that looks like it should be there.

As with everything, technology moves forward and maybe Skoda need to re-price their Sat Nav option in the brochure?

Yeh, but you have a way of "finding" items for your Superb.

Close, his name was Rodrigo from Mexico (Hella EOSA), LOL!!

I am also looking at buying a second hand sat-nav ( I believe any DX MFD unit from Audi Skoda Seat VW or Ford vehicle will be exactly the same )

BUT : Apart from an aerial to pick up the sats, Do you need any other extra wiring or is it just a straight swap ????

If you are looking at purchasing a second hand unit mate then I may well be able to help you out if your interested? Drop me a PM and we can discuss it from there?

Most units you buy will come with an aerial, harness wiring and the data CD which is all you need.

Is that all it costs for sat nav these days. What is needed for the system to work, how much will it cost and is it easy enough to fit?

Cheers
