TPMS Issue

Featured Replies

Not sure if this is solvable as dealer has failed to sort it but here goes.

My TPMS light comes on at almost a fixed distance regularly. And no tyres are fine and all the same diameter.

Recent history is

216miles/142miles/255miles/163miles/269miles

Resets OK from button

Scan of system shows no sensor faults. Car on 150k - superb elegance TDI 2 litre 170PS I think

What is going on? Seems to me to be a software issue.

Has this happened to anyone else and did you find a solution? I can live with it but its annoying. Does it affect MOT?

Old Sparky

Does the system actually use pressure sensors on each tyre or is it the ABS derived system? which is far less sensitive at ~ 5/7psi error, it can also be reset wihout correcting the error (useful perhaps to get you to a tyre centre?) but I think the pressure system method cannot.

If it's ABS-derived, it could be a dodgy sensor. With no fault showing it might be trial and error as to which one it is.

Are all the tyres okay condition-wise?

its the old style counting the rotations off the ABS I think. Tyres are excellent shape ( ie round!- no all as original spec for vehicle and in good condition part worn pressures all identical)

Thanks for taking the time
