Door cylinder lock removal

Featured Replies

Hi All

I'm new to the forum. Hoping someone on here can help.

I have a 2020 Octavia Mk 4 1.5 tsi.

The passenger door is no longer locking and I have purchased a second hand door actuator to hopefully fix it. I have gone to fit today and stripped everything out. I wasn't quite expecting to have to remove the electric window mechanism and door glass to get to it, but I'm there now, apart from removing the door cylinder lock. It's a RHD car and the the fault is with the passenger side door which has the lock in it.

I have removed the screws in the side of the door and I expected it to just pop out or at least wiggle/pull out, but no joy and I don't want to use too much force. Am I missing another fixing.

I have attached the below manual which I found on line but it doesn't make much sense to me. Could some put it in terms which are easier to understand. It suggests removing the handle first, but in the section on removing the handle it says to remove the lock first.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I have never taken a door apart to this level before.

Figured it out. Found a useful video on YouTube for the Mk8 Golf door which has a similar set up.

If you push the left hand screw nearest the outer door edge towards the hinges it moves the lock cylinder across a few millimetres and it will slide out. I used the torx bit used to undo the screw.

Simple when you know how.
