Acquiring an Octy TDI

Featured Replies

Hi all!!

Just about to acquire an Sept 99 Octy SLX TDI estate with 60k on the clock,

Currently based in Truro, Cornwall but working in Aberdeen so there will be lots of miles rather quickly (Did 1650 last week in my old Citroen ZX!!:( ).

Aircon Clutch has gone walkies, boot lock dogey and rear drivers door wont open from inside, other than that its virtually mint. Shouldn't take too long to get it sorted.

Already got a set of new fabia VRS wheels on the way as my mate has just fitted Octy VRS wheels to his.

Mark

Nice one - I assume you're commuting at weekends only

Mine me asking what you paid for the said beast?

Welcome to Briskoda by the way (even though it appears you have ZERO posts)

It was my dads old car so he gave it to me for £2250 so it isn't really a comparable purchase!! All i know is that i'm a lucky chappie!! Currently doin Cornwall to Aberdeen every 2 weeks ish but hopefully should soon become monthly depending on work....

Looking forward to getting 15mpg more than my zx does,

Any1 know how difficult it would be to fit cruise control?? would be lovely for my midnight runs up the M6!!!

Hi, and welcome

Re aircon Clutch, We had the same problem, the nut works loose & the clutch falls off, its sometimes still in the ubdertray

We were given an old compressor & the mechanic who did ours took the nut & clutch off the old compressor & fitted it to ours without taking the compressor off the car, saves the cost of a re gas.

Remember to Lok Tite the nut on or it might happen again !!

Be wary of taing it to a main dealer, they all seem to go for a new compressor, £800 + Labour + a re gas + vat   , Nearly half of what you paid for the car

To add, A Jabba custom remap will give the car a considerable hike in Performance & also improve the mpg, Our 110 bhp went to just over 160 & its mpg went up 3-4 mpg, OK its around

Think i'm prob goin to take the option of a new compressor and clutch off ebay when the right one pops up, Think the splines on the compressor shaft are totally mangled. Hopefully get it fitted and gassed for a few beers if i'm nice to people!!

Defo goin to get it mapped when i've got the cash, Didn't realise 160bhp was on the cards tho!!:) Thought 140bhp ish was about it without physical mods.

Fitting a decent Sony headunit and new speakers to it as the standard ones are truely pants, Anyone recomend any good speakers??? Is it hard to replace the rear boot speakers, looks like an ****!?
