Having recently upgraded the front speakers in my Octavia I have noticed a small amount of water 'leaking' inside the car and running down onto the carpet. I asked the fella that fitted the new speakers to have a look again and asked how he had fitted the speakers. He told me that to fit the speakers he had to cut a hole in the door card (but shouldn't suffer any real problems!!) but he would fit some water resistant foam over the top of the speakers. It doesn't appear to have fixed the problem. Has anyone got any ideas as to what to do to stop the water (bearing in mind that I will probably have to cut my losses with the fool that fitted the speakers:mad: )... Should I go back to square one and buy new door cards (how much?) and start again or is there another solution..:(

I read somewhere about door seals on Octys failing. Don't see how the speakers can have anything to do with a leak.

It sounds like you have the same leak that blights the Fabia range. Fairly easy to fix if you're brave enough. Have a search in the Fabia section.

Had a look at those and the Fabia problem is with the rear doors, where as mine is limited to the front (where the holes have been cut into the cards). I think I will bite the bullet and go back to the dealer for their help:O

:( If the fitter has cut a hole in the plastic sheet at the back of the speakers then rain will run down the outer side of the plastic (normal) and then run into the hole created and wet the inside of the trim, you could try either tapeing or glueing a new peice of plastic over the speaker hole on the outer side of the sheet so the water will continue down into the bottom of the door. The Fabia problem affects the front doors as well as the rears as I have now resealed all 4 doors !

If yur speakers are leaking replace the door membrane and refit the speaker on top without making a hole in it.
