Clifford 950

Featured Replies

Hi anybody got this alarm? I'm looking to buy one soon, as I want an alarm so I thought if I'm getting one it may aswell be the best one. My friends have had the old G4 concept 600 and that was a good alarm so want something similar on mine. Anybody know a good fitter in Milton Keynes as I'm thinking of going to Premier Car Audio in Stacy Bushes as they fitted my mates 600's and I know if you get a bad installer the alarm is as good as useless. Any input on the accessories, what's worthwhile and what's not?

Best price I've found on the net is

dont forget, best price isn't always best fitter... try and find other people who have had things fitted by this company

Yeah I know, I won't be going to that company anyway, I think its called GAP as I've read bad reviews of them fitting the 650's so don't want to risk that. I'd be interested to know of anyone on here that's had a clifford alarm fitted and who by, any problems etc.

Cheers

If High Wycombe is within reach I suggest a trip to The Sound Gallery. Very very professional and will do an excellent job on any ICE or alarm installation.

i went with technicar in Osset (West Yorkshire), the alarm works fine, was very sensitive to start with but had it toned down. I felt that the workmanship and care taken was rather lacking. but the alarm works fine.

Problems had in two years:

-too sensitive

-Aerial broke inside that is used as a sensor for when u press your bipper, was totally locked out and the alarm was blarring out! had to get AA on the case.

-the light and internal buttons weren't stuck to the dash very well and bit by bit peeled them self off.

- Bonnet pin rusted about three times and kept randomly setting the alarm off.

All of the above was fixed under life time warrenty, but was a pain not having the car for the days it went in

mine was a concept 600, hope that helps.

Cheers Goochie, I'll have to give them a ring and see what price I can get. I don't mind travelling for better quality service.

Cheers Jim for your help, both my mates had a couple of small problems with their 600 but it got sorted quick enough.

I phoned premier in Milton Keynes and they quoted

I've taken the furby in to Premier Car Systems in Milton Keynes today to get it fitted after speaking with them I decided to leave it in their hands. My mate knows one of the fitters and the owner and he knows that this guy is good at the job so I'm trusting him. They're charging

Think alarms and insurance varies from company to company. Some it won't make any difference at all, others it may do. Speak to yours first of all to find out.

Something to bare in mind with alarms is that anything that allows remote starting of the car invalidates Thatcham approval. So if you're insurance company thinks your car has a Thatcham approved alarm as standard (Fab vRS for example) and you fit a remote start system, technically you could be invalidating your insurance if the car is stolen. Something to bare in mind!

Not added any other options like remote start coz I never saw it as a benefit to my car so went for an out of the box 950 which is all thatcham approved. I'm coming to renew my insurance in November anyway so will include the alarm when I ring round for quotes. I've had the alarm fitted but I can't arm it at the moment as they never had time to set it up properly as I needed the car for work today, so I'm going back later to have it all set up. If I do arm it, it doesn't stop going off.

Anyway it's all good so far I like it and a good job has been done on the fitting.

The alarm should work fine with the factory defaults. Don't know what they did to make the alarm go off all the time

Who ever you do decide to go with just make sure that you go to an authorised dealer. Clifford alarms are more complicated to fit then most other alarms and if you go to an authorised dealer then hopefully you should not have problems in the future.

They took the live for the alarm off the lights which is what was causing the problem and has been a problem since the Passat in 1998 so shouldn't have been done. They also fitted the prox sensor under the handbrake which also interferes with the alarm. It should've been fitted in the centre of roof lining with the cable exiting backwards according to Clifford technical. This place has been given 4 masters certification which means they are regarded quite good, however I think they're dropping their standards since being under new management. Oh and they are authorised sellers and fitters, they obviously just try to use the quickest methods which they've picked up rather than following actual procedure.

Oh well hopefully it'll all be sorted Monday when it goes in for the third time.
