I think I have a 'black' brake light switch, im having problems with my cruise control, how can I tell if the switch needs replaced with the revised 'purple' part.....answers on a postcard......Thanks

You need VAG COM

Measure block 66 iirc in engine, should give you the activation signals on the clutch switch, brake switch and the column stalk.
