Abs Didnt Work?

Featured Replies

a couple of days ago i was driving along a motorway as i turned off to go down the slip road i noticed there was traffic backed up so i stepped on the brake and the wheels locked up and started skidding the road was very wet and there was plenty of distance in front of me but in the end it resulted in me going into the back of a micra  :thumbdwn: anyway the abs didnt work at all. then late last night i was driving on the same road and the road was wet again so i decided to try and get the abs to work so i slammed the brake as hard as last time the wheels locked up again but still no abs whilst it was still skidding i pressed the brake harder the tyres started to screech but still no abs:(

so i was wondering do all fabia's have abs? mine is a 1.4 8v comfort and if so what might be the problem with mine there is no light flashing up on the dash or anything like that.

by the way these fabia's are strong cars the micra i went into was wrote off but my car had very little damage a slightly twisted bonnet, a shattered grille and the light was pushed back very impressive:)

not sure about the ABS question, but ill secound the strength of the fabia. After hitting the back of a lotus elise in a traffic que, he needed a new rear clam plus exhaust, and my fabia needed a new grill,

according to parkers.co.uk ABS was standard from may 2002 onwards.

I dont think yours has abs.

that could explain why it never worked then as mine is a 2001 model i knew abs was standard on fabia's but didnt know it was from a certain year. come to think of it there is no abs light on the dash when i turn the ignition on.

problem solved then :)

I would have thought about testing the ABS before I really needed it if you know what I mean

:iagree: one of the first things I do when I get a new car/courtesy car is give the brakes a bloody good jab - its good to know how it will react in an emergency situation.
