Windows updates

Featured Replies

I run windows XP pro which is set on update automatically

Just wondered if anyone else had notived how many updates were being put out lately ....seems to want me to click "update now" every other day .....have they had some serious problems come to light?

They've had to put a broswer patch out in the last 24 hours, but you'll find most of the updates are related to Windows Defender and are definition updates.

Usually the updates are released on the second Tuesday of each month although users doing manual updates may find they take a day longer to appear.

i had 1 update yesterday , but hadn't had any for a while

Sounds like it's the defender updates then ....just seemed to get a lot just lately

I'm still running XP SP1, which is "out of support" from 10th October. I'm not keen to upgrade to XP2 since a) I've heard horror stories of peeps who've upgraded and been unable to run previously ok software and B) I run FireFox, Thunderbird, router firewall, McAfee firewall & anti-virus, and anti-spyware stuff. I know I'm paranoid! but who else isn't going to upgrade to XP2?

I upgraded my work machines to SP2 first. Went without a hitch so did my home ones. Not one problem

I've since disabled the XP2 firewall as I already have a hardware and software firewalls :D
