Fabia 1.4 16v comfort (100hp)

Featured Replies

Hi All ive been offered a Fabia 1.4 16v (100hp) comfort 53 plate for

i would have said that's on the expensive side...... depends how good the car s tho..... without seeing it you cant really pass judgement

I paid £4000 for mine. Comfort model, year 2000 with less than 23k miles on the clock. Full service history and a years road tax included too.

I reckon you could haggle that price down a little to be honest.

Hello,

I'm not sure which motor version the car has - check the decal under the mat in the boot on the lh side. There are a few threads on here about the older 1.4 16 valve having a problem with piston blownby. This means that exhaust gases pass by the rings and into the block causing several problems including the need for a partial rebuild - $$.

Also, the 16 valve's have a slight hesitancy attributed to the emissions mapping in the ecu - this you can get used to

.

I have a 2006 estate with the same motor and for the most part I enjoy the car. It has decent getup for a 1.4 and great economy. It even has a nice sound for a small motor. It is a good solid car. However, I have some niggly problems with the steering pump, rack and odd suspension parts that are curerntly being solved under warranty.

I would ensure that recalls (if any) have been attended to and that, if possible, the service history mentions any work done under warranty. (I know this is often file 13ed at the dealer).

Anyway, hope that helps some.

Seems expensive to me too, I paid £4250 for a RED 52 Plate Fabia Comfort TDI Estate, 52k miles, full Skoda history, new tyres, 10 mos MOT and in good condition. I then got £90 back as I only got one key.

Just bought a CD player for it of e-bay £74 inc post, Got second key cut and fob for £19, just need to get in programed now.

Had a Citroen ZX td before, well still have it, great car, no trouble in 8 years onwnership other that a second hand real axel.

The Fabia is a bit quicker, mid range, and a bit more top speed.

Plus I managed 571 miles on £39 which I recon works out at just under 59 mpg. That did include a 300 mile return trip to Stranraer, when I was try to get the best mpg and a 45 mile very fast trip, most of the rest was just pottering about.

One thing I have noticed is the Fabia TDI is a bit noiser when cold, than my old Citroen ZX td
