I quite fancy getting a pocket GPS for hillwalking, mountain biking etc.

I also quite fancy getting a Sat Nav unit, but 99% of my car journeys are to/from places I already know, so I can't really justify the expense. Is there a reasonably priced pocket GPS on the market that I can add the Sat Nav capability onto later ? I don't want to start mucking about with pocket PCs or additional hardware.

I watched the gadget show the weekend and they did a test of a cheap GPS and expensive mid range model and a map test.
