fabia vrs lost radio code???/

my VRS symphony radio has suddenly lost its code, and the battery has not been disconected or anything, it just lost it when i stoped the car yesterday..

of course cos its an auto coding radio i didnt get the security code with the car as it should get it from the ECU. but it isnt and when i turn it on it says Safe, then asks for the code showing "1000"

i spoke to my dealer, who for some reason dont have the code on their computer like they normally do and need the serial number to send away for the code, but this will take a while they said.

has anyone else had this problem? seems strange as there hasnt been any power loss to the car. also does anyone know of any sites on the internet listing the code? my mate found one that had the code for his sony radio.
