I got a talex camera spotter thing hard wired into my dash with my Fabia. Since getting it, she says my subscription has expired and she needs updating. It has occured to me how much I reply on the talex woman (worrying I know).

My only problem is that my laptop can only accept USB ports, but the one that came with the talex it is some sort of black plug in with 2 twisty bits on either side. I took the cable into PC World to ask if they had an adapter or something, and they said it was not possible because the diffrent plugs ran at diffrent speeds.

Does anyone know a way around this?

From my limited understanding you can buy a USB connector, but it says

By the looks of the cable images, I have a PC serial connector.

you do have a serial clead, but as your quote says you need a subscription kit which is what we have pointed you towards.

Okay, I am not trying to be stupid.

I know I can get a year's subscription for my talex heavy, but surely I need to get it to marry up with my computer so it can learn where all the speed cameras are.

So even if I followed the link and bought a year's subscription I am not going to have the talex-computer mating cable to make update it.

Or does it update itself by magic just because I have a subscription?

If yours is a serial one then you can get a lead which will let you plug your jack plug into your talex then your serial connector(if you have one) will plug into a conversion

lead which plugs into your lead and converts your serial lead to a usb lead,which plugs into you computer.
