Hi,

haven't got a particular brand in mind, still trawling through the info in the forum, but I'd read somewhere that the 2007 model had a newer ECU ?? that was more problematic for plug in units.

Hi guys,

Just bought a Dragon Tuning Box off Ebay.

Any ideas how to fit it?!

I've heard that it takes its power source from the battery, but where does the 8 pin plug connect into?

I can't wait to get it fitted!

Not sure what engine or box you have but this might be of assistance: http://briskoda.net/octavia-ii/digital-tuning-box-fitment/66711/

On the PD140 its on the right hand side of the block when looking from the front of the car, pull off the plastic cover and its close to the plastic intake pipe near the top of the block.

Sorry, forgot to mention, its a P.D. 130 Fabia VRS. I take it I just need to find an 8 pin plug near the plastic intake pipe, split it, then plug in the ones from the tuning box.

Sounds like it might be easy enough:cyclops::cyclops:

Well I finally got it fitted,

It was very easy, just located the plug on the block underneath that big plastic cover designed to make the engine look less scary to animals and small children.

What a difference it makes!

The first thing I noticed was that the suspension feels much softer as the car lurches more when you accelerate.

The big difference is accelerating onto the motorway, its like being nudged by a demolition ball with every gear you dispatch, and if you're not careful you'll get a fright when you look down at the rev counter needle which quickly twists around on itself merrily indicating that your pistons will soon start kissing your valves 100 times a second.

There is none of that OEM lag that you're used to after 3,500 rpm so be careful.

I bought this box from fleebay for 100 sheets and it is the best money I've ever spent.

This is such an easy gain in power and god knows why it has to be so expensive. If you own a n/a petrol then, yes, 40bhp extra should cost you at least 350 as big chunks of engineered metal are usually involved. But there is no reason why a remap should be so costly. Yes there is this magic show of rolling road before and after but lets face it, all they do is press return on a keyboard in exchange for a whole weeks salary for the average working man.

A tuning box is the cheapest and most effective way of getting a power upgrade for nothing, if you buy one second hand, you can sell it separately from you dearly departed for the same price you paid for it.

The development and testing of these maps is costly.

If it was easy to do then we'd all be doing it.

I agree, I'm sure the guys who write the map must spend a lot of time developing and testing to make the ultimate remap.

Then your garage buys it and all they do is download it onto your car having rolling roaded it before and after to show you the power gain.

And to put the map back to factory standard is FREE so it can't really require much effort! Much less 10 hours of labour.
