EML on again, EGR valve plus more

Featured Replies

:) Hi there, new to this website and not quite sure if this is where I should post this but here goes.

2 years ago I had the EGR valve replaced on my 2000 W reg 1.4 Fabia Elegance after the EML came on. Once replaced it came back on after a couple of days and it was found the wiring loom was soaked. Anyhow the light has returned on a number of occasions and shows the EGR valve as faulty. Obviously as I only had this done 2 years ago can't believe it needs doing again. My indi garage is looking into it.

Anyway my hubby went to a Skoda garage the other day for work and mentioned it to the guy there and he said ah does it use alot of oil ? Hubby said yes, and he said that there was a fault with the piston rings and there was a recall for them to be replaced free of charge? I never got anything on this asking for my car to go back.

Love my car dearly but this is costing me loads and if Skoda should be covering these costs then all the better.

Does anyone know anything about is? I tried to have a search for similar problem but got a bit lost.

If there is a recall on it surely it should be done FOC anyway, and if you have the receipt still for that EGR work I'd bring that in too, might be able to get the part at cost or thereabouts if you're lucky.

Not the best thing to happen this though :(

Yeah have alll the receipts but don't know if there ever was a recall? Wondered if anyone else knows about replacement piston rings being done by Skoda. Thought that it was better to get some more info before I write to Skoda

Delete please, double post :S

Sorry new to all this, whats a TSB ?

I have searched through some of the other posts and see that some other people have had similar types of things ie using loads of oil, EGR Valve coming up on the readout and the EML continually coming on but I can't see whether they actually got anywhere.

Where should I post a thread to find out if this has happened to others

speak to VRS Stu as he has a lot of info about the furby, albeit mainly the VRS.
