You may be dissapointed by the standard performance when jumping from your car to the GTI. Superb car to look at, I'd have it in White or Black.

I had one for the day and loved it. The only think is that I felt like I was sat inside a pillar box flloking out through a very black slot.

Which seats and wheels has he gone for?

Its faster than it feels because of a silky smooth power delivery - If you dont think its quick, try watching the speedo.

I know his is in Pearl Black, but beyond that I'm not sure he's got any other extras. I reckon he will have gone with the standard alloys - 17s? I think they look OK - A bit Lambo'ish.

Edit: I'm not expecting sub standard power compared to the mongrel. I think the GTI will probably be able to deliver the power a little better, especially in gear using that rev range.

Shame he's not plumped for the £1500 leather recaro option on the seats ;)

The stereo is very good too.

black's well nice, but white's the best colour for a quick hatchback

the car should come the optional 18's as standard. although they are very similar, the 17's just don't look quite right.

White looks great on the 3dr but the 5dr looks best in black.

Here's the one I had.

That will most likely be identical, Phil. Looks very nice. He's had a Mk5 2.0 TDI for about 2.5 years, so this does seem the natural progression. I was surprised to see him go away from diesel as he does a fair mileage. Maybe he just doesn't give a t**s.
