A quick question

Featured Replies

I am looking into changing all the speakers in my Fabia as i can honestly say the ICE standard is the worst i have ever heard in a car.

Just wondering what size the speakers are front and back.

Thanks

If the ice in your car is the worst you have ever heard, I can only surmise that you are twelve, and shouldn't be driving anyway.

Try listening to the 'ice' in a 1972 vw beetle.

get a grip, it's a car, not a discotheque.

HTH

 at the reply :D

Maybe 'GinG' has a very discerning ear?

There's a thread somewhere that links to a Pioneer page, listing appropriate speakers for the Fab. Now while I'm not necessarily recommending Pioneers, it would at least give you a starter for 10 as to sizes.

Have a search on here for 'Fabia speakers sizes' or something...

urrrrm, i am 21 acctually, and have driven a few cars, my 1.0l seat had better speakers and sound than the fabia!

I am not slating the car one bit as i love this car, i can see where they have saved money to make it a great value car though!

You may say i could be death or maybe i just like good quality sound whilst driving? All i hear is the treble no bass

I can see your avatar says it all about you, not giving me a good impression to the site after coming from zsoc.com site.

Maybe take ur head out of your **** next time when u decide to reply to a post?

Thanks for your reply though wardy, will give it a go, just needed a quick answer as some speakers on ebay were just ending!! #

:jedi: Mr Grumpy vs GinG, Place your bets :D

To be fair, Mr Grumpy wasnt having a go at you mate, he was just saying that when Skoda bring a car out - especially a vRS - they are focusing more on it being a car to get you from A to B (fairly fast:rofl: ) safely and reliably, and that they dont really concentrate on having the best sound system as most people who think its crap are the ones who would upgrade it anyway.

I watched a bit of the Gadget Show on ch5 and have went to the effort to find this for you GinG :P CLICKY. Its the results of the gadget shows test on the audio systems that sort of proves that a cars audio is really hard to get right, no matter how much money you chuck at it. Further more, IMO the best sound quality is nothing unless you have the right acoustics in the car which is pretty hard to do.

Happy reading:thumbup:

Having just changed mine, I gathered this information from posts around this site:

Fabia Front are 5in (13cm) - however you can fit 6.5in speakers with spacers. (Which is what I did).

Fabia Rear are 4in (10cm).

The thing to be wary of is depth. You need pretty slim speakers for the fronts as I found to my cost :o

He is 21 and has driven a few cars:rofl:

Obviously not old enough to own a sense of humour:D

He could be my son:eek:

I'll find out where he lives, give him a cuddle and put his toys back in his pram;)

Or he could put me on his ignore list.

Who cares, not me:P

GinG - this is progress for Mr Grumpy.

Until recently he thought ICE was something you put in a G&T, and with your username its a wonder he didnt revert back to that.

How did you manage to fit them?

I have these CLICKY and didnt try them as I thought it would be too hard but if there is a way that is relativly easy then Ill whack them in

What sort of dimensions were the ones you fitted?

Changing the H/u makes the biggest difference in sound IMHO, the standard speakers are admittedly pretty cr^p too.:thumbdwn:

If you're gonna do it - either change the whole lot or do it step-by-step like modding where you get progressively less return for your spending:

1- HU change

2- Subwoofer + amp install

3- Change the speakers

4- soundproof the car

When a manufacturer builds a car, it has to save money where it can - the standard unit is usually just sorta ok for most people. And that's understandable and fine.

Only when you hear a decent ICE setup, then you know that there is much better to be had, and it doesn't have to be the most expensive either.:)

In any case, a few years of loud music will get you to my stage where you have mild hearing loss, and you'll either stay with a standard stereo or get an upgraded ICE setup to keep up the airpressure on your already-battered eardrums...

I went with the latter!

Yeah, my post is a bit heavy on the smilies, but heck they're fun:yeahdude:

Cheers,

I have to admit to being a DIY disaster zone, so I paid someone to fit mine.

The ones that didn't fit were 66mm deep so you need slimmer than that. In the end I got some focal slimfits which weren't cheap but did fit properly.

  • 1 month later...

Mr R32 Has Focal Slims/longs (think thats what name i got told by the fitter) They are 6.5 inch but are slimmer in depth than normal.

I think thats right from talking to the guys, as i go to the same place as him for my ice fitting.

I have Focal 5inch speakers up front the only thing they lack is when a slow held bass beat comes on the speaker pops/sounds crap.

See if i can get mine changed as i got told 6.5" wouldnt fit by the same people TIME TO complain as the damm expensive.

You could fit any 6.5" speakers but you would have to start cutting the door card but then you would lose the Factory look.

Hope this has made sense.
