welcome Leeb , i'm sure if you post up your fault in the Fabia forum , someone on there will be able to help you

Hello and welcome

The engine light is a nuisance as it can mean one of many things, being the first indicator that "something" is wrong. Have you tried all the usual? E.g. Low battery, oil, coolant levels etc -all the things you would check before going on a long journey. If you have no other lights on and these checks are OK, you can take it to a garage and ask them to read off the codes (take it to a garage which will know what the codes mean). It can arise from a sensor fault for another function, or an underlying problem which is not showing up separately. If nothing turns up on the codes, you can ask them to re-set the engine light and see if it comes on again. If it does, it's probably best to get the car checked out properly.

Unfortunately, I'm not an expert, so someone else could come along, or, as ric04vrs said, you could post again in the Fabia forum.

Hope this helps. My bottom line is that the light doesn't always mean an expensive thing, but it can save expense if a part is likely to be further injured (so to speak) if not fixed. The trick is finding out which LOL. So good luck and a Happy New Year (I hope).

Best

See if you can find someone local on here who can scan it for you with vag com. If you could get to central/east Devon, I could do it. :)
