Upgrading from Audi to Skoda!

Featured Replies

Guys - just about to upgrade from my dead 1998 2.5 Tdi A4 Avant (with broken timing belt!) to a 2002/2003 Octavia estate. Undecided at the moment between the 1.9 Tdi or the 1.8T.

But the question is, does anyone have an easily accessible service schedule. I'd like to have a look at what the schedules are for those models and when key components (e.g. timing belts) should be replaced so that I can check on any history of a car I may be interested in buying.

Don't suppose anyone has a pdf copy of the schedule?

Cheers

I drove TDI and 1.8T. I do not know yet your priorities, but I would suggest 1.8T.

See here an Excel document (not in English, but you will figure it out)with what you are interested in:

Thanks DORU. Reason I'm undecided is I generally prefer diesels for reliability, but have recently changed driving habits and now no longer do the mileage I used to, economically I may be better off with a petrol. The real deciding factor will be the availability and price of the car, so I'm keeping my options open!

Thanks for the spreadsheet, it seems that I am looking at minor service every 15,000km and major every 30,000k - right?

Also, a critical bit for me is what are the Skoda recommended times to change the timing belt, I know they are usually somewhere around the 60-80,000 miles. This is probably the kind of mileage car I'm looking at so it would be nice to know whether I should expect to see a belt change on the history or not.

The 1.9 TDI (mine was a 2003 110bhp) was check at 60k , replace at 80k.

If you are looking at one close to that mileage then try and get a new cam-belt thrown in as part of the deal

Thanks DORU.

Don't mention it !

Yes, that schedule is in force in Romania. It is possible that in Western Europe the service to be provided each 30k, to be seen.

For Skoda cars newer than 2004, the belt change is programmed at 120k km or later, even 240k km. For 1.8T it is needed a verification each year starting 90k km until the top of 180k km. So the year when the car is made is important, then also if it is TDI PD or non-PD. For gasoline 1.8T it is simple: the earliest at 90k km, the latest at 180k km, of course if nothing unusual or unpredictible arises meanwhile...

One of those sentences I thought I would never see

"Upgrading from Audi to Skoda!"

I must have downgraded then.:(

Guys, what if Audi is from 1993 and Skoda is 2003?

Then it won't be smth else but upgrading, right?

Mine (52 reg diesel) had the belt (toothed belt in UK service log) done a few months before I bought the car, somewhere around 58_000 miles.
