Furby vRS - how to remove standard HU?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've done a search for this but can't find anything definitive and so I though I'd just ask.

How do you remove the standard Symphony head unit from a Fabia vRS? It appears to have 2 narrow rectangular type slots in the front of it but are those what you use to pull it out? Do I have to remove surrounding areas of trim too?

If I do remove other bits of trim will that reveal other holes to use to pull out the HU?

I was looking for round holes to use the old bent coathanger approach but couldn't see any.

I'm replacing it with my Kenwood CD/ MP3 thing and have the keys for that but no idea what kind of keys are required for the standard HU.

Thanks,

Chris.

Kenwood keys will work mate, when I had my Fabia vRS and replaced the HU I use an old set of kenwood keys.

A broken junior hacksaw blade works just as well if your careful, to aid getting the new HU in, you should really drop the glove box out as space is pretty tight behind a furby dash and it helps you with cabling.

Glove box is 5 (iirc) Torx screws, sorry can't remember the torx sizes

Excellent. Many thanks for your rapid and detailed response mate. :)

I'll go and try prodding it with my Kenwood keys now......

Yup, just tested it. Slotted the 2 Kenwood keys in and it came out with a bit of wiggling.

Outstanding. I love this forum..... :) :)
